Explanation

We've had kind of an absence of updates at SMC90. This may explain why. Don't worry, in August we will kick off again!

New comic style

In this issue, I've added a special BG behind to comic because lets face it, a plain white BG dont attract anyone. Plus the baloons have more sutule shading, which is done by changing Bevel & Emboss in Photoshop to 48, not 50 and softening the image with some of the bottom settings. If you have any comments about the new style change, please post comments on the SMCAST!

Several other series

Reality Bytes is not the only feature that exists on SMC90.com Here are some of the other less known ones.

FT (or Free Time) is another series I have that is updated when I can't think of any ideas for RB, or I just have a random idea. So by that, I mean its a random comic with no specific plot.

I had other comics besides RB and FT, but they didn't work out that well. Another feature that will grow big in the future is the Tutorial section. I might post tutorials on this blog, but most likley, you will find the best tutorials directly on my site. I haven't updated that section in some time, so stay posted for an upcoming comic post on the tutorial page.

The extra section isn't udpated as much as it should be, but it has some wallpapers you might find to your liking.

Moving away from my site and all...Get DS LITE NOW! If you have the original or don't have one or you actually bought a PSP (*cough* gamer tool *cough*). It's white, awesome looking and has a insane bright @** screen. But the D-Pad is crazy. It feels just like an anolog stick but its even better. Seriously this is the best control pad ever made, and after DS LITE, we may not have D-PADS anymore, so experiance it while you can.

And Strong Bad made a new email! Yes its random but I love homestar runner and how can you resist the master of random when they update?!

I'm done now.

Some quick comic tips

There are lots of comic tutorials that tell people about how to make their work better. So I've decided to add a few more to that area as well.

1: Make sure that you keep your baloons detailed and that the size of the fonts as well, as BIG as the characters are. It looks totally out of place to see huge detailed characters next to crummy small 12 pt fonts Times New Roman style...

2: Make sure to crop your images before you publish them (and this goes for drawn comics too since you often have to scan them in so that they can be viewed online.) Its very simple in any program to do this, just use your highligting tool to grab the comic and as little outside space as possible, then paste. This will save you a lot of bandwith and time trying to locate where your work actually is.

3: Study other comic makers works, like Penny Arcade and 8-bit theater, both great series with verteran authors who have been doing this for a long time. Reading enough of good works will help you to develop your own.

4: Create your own style! Too many comics have the old small sprites or so-so plots and design, work on combining styles you like from other artists as well as contributing your own style so that it will be unique and draw attention.

That is all I can think of for now. Hopefully the quality of comics posted on the Internet will increase in the near not to distant future.

Almost ready with Flash

I've been pretty busy latley, however the movie is close to the finish line. I have been working on making my pixel (sprite) styles as unique as possible. That way it won't be labled as "just another sprite movie".

Happy 4th!

Woohoo, its the 4th of July! To celebrate, I've posted a special 4th comic issue of Reality Bytes. Enjoy!
If you haven't seen RB before, and would like to see more, here is the link to its page.

News on introduction

I am about above 50 % done with the new intro. Since I'm a fan of Tenacious D, I thought it would be a good idea to make a movie about it. Here is the link to the preview and I hope that I can finish the movie within the week.

First post

Yes thats right... , I've started a blog... Has SMC gone nutty?!?! Just a few months ago, I said I was making a feature page so that I could host my own version of one and now THIS!!! Well, hosting my own feature page (blog really) was a mistake because I had no CLUE as how to design this kind of page correctly. So this is the SMCAST the special place for everything else that doesn't fit on SMC90.com. Here is a preview of some of the things I may mention in no paticular order.

1: Future projects like new comics, animations or events that keep my from doing stuff like that...

2: Ideas about design will end up in the SMCAST. If you want to know where SMC90 is going in the future, this will be the place to go for it.

I am trying to keep this blog specific to events with SMC90 but that may not always be the case, as my life has a big shelf in my world. ^_^. So if I see any events that are worth mentioning, I will be sure to bring them up. And now for the most important thing of all! When I say
worth mentioning, thats all I mean! You wont see stupid posts like (unfortunatley) 98% of blogs that say "HEY GUYZ I JUST ATE A SANDWHICH!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!" if its an update, its hopefully gonna see something worth skimming through.

Well thats the first post. Stay tuned to the new SMCAST for more information and stay with SMC90 for more new content and expansion. Thats all for now.
